Everest Mad Cats in Kandersteg, July 2003

Kandersteg 2003 was the Everest Mad Cats’ first summer camp; the unit only kicked off in September 2002 so this was the first chance for the youngsters to spend a full week together. It was like no other camp that went before it; not only had the unit fund raised over £2,000 to make it possible, but we were travelling abroad. Kandersteg 2003 was a summer camp that will be remembered by all, both Explorers and Leaders, for a very long time, and for all the right reasons! I hope that the photos below give at least some idea of just how fantastic the trip was.

Kandersteg is a small village nestled within the Swiss Alps. It is notable not just for the River Kander that runs through it, but for being home to the International Scout Centre.

Day 1: Early start. Had to be at Gatwick for 4.30am. Little if any sleep had by anyone the night before. After a short flight and a two hour train ride we arrived in Kandersteg. click here to continue
